Overview
Home to more than 18 million people and spanning 64,000 square miles across six states and the District of Columbia, the Chesapeake Bay watershed is massive. While much attention is dedicated to the main stem of the Bay, efforts to protect and restore the nation's largest estuary begin and end with improving the health of the more than 100,000 creeks, rivers, and streams that eventually lead to the Bay.
With an area this large containing a diverse amalgamation of rural, urban, and suburban landscapes, there is no solitary issue plaguing water quality with a single solution to rid our waterways of pollution. To meet our clean water goals, it is critical for governments, businesses, nonprofit organizations and communities of all stripes to work together. The Coalition is dedicated to gathering the nonprofit community, providing a unique platform for collaboration and partnerships, as we unite to address the many issues impacting clean water.
